Description:
To transport students to and from school and other sites within designated route(s) and to ensure the safety of the student passengers while in a school vehicle. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This job class is responsible for the safe operation of a school bus and ensuring the safety of student passengers while adhering to established bus schedules.
Responsibilities:
Operate the school bus safely and efficiently according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including Rancho Christian School’s bus policy
Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
Maintain order and discipline within the bus while driving
Work in conjunction with the coach/teacher/supervising staff member to verify passenger attendance to and from each destination
Ensure passengers are aware of rules and responsibilities
Be on time to and from events, transporting on schedule
Communicate immediately with the designated person of any major delays, mechanical failure, or accidents while operating the bus
Clean out the bus and ensure it is safely and securely stored
Advise the Maintenance team of any necessary maintenance or repairs
Other Expectations:
Maintain vehicle logs as needed
Actively and collaboratively participate as a member of the staff team
Act quickly and exercise independent, mature judgment
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications Spiritual Qualifications:
Demonstrates a passion for Christ and his Kingdom through personal spiritual discipline and public ministry.
Seeks to grow in that relationship with Christ through personal spiritual discipline, education, accountability and service to his Kingdom.
Professional Qualifications:
Possess a Commercial Driver License, Class A or B with (S) School Bus and/or (P) endorsement.
Possess clean driving record.
Present official driving record report from DMV.
Demonstrates proficient knowledge of road and school van regulations.
Demonstrates effective verbal, listening and communications skills.
Demonstrates efficient time management skills.
Previous experience preferred.
Maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
Negative TB screening performed within last 4 years.
Mandated Reporter Trainings (all that are required).
