Position Overview Currently hiring for climbing arborists, trimmer trainees, and tree groundman in Newbury, Ohio.
Become a trainee, learning all aspects of tree trimming and care
Climbing arborist: climb and trim trees
Groundperson: handle all necessary ground work during tree trimming
Full‑time. Winter work available. Pay ranges from $40,000–$65,000 per year, based on position and experience.
Tasks include trimming and removing trees, removing unwanted, diseased, or dying limbs, and performing related duties for health and safety.
CDL A or B license preferred but not required. Davey Tree will assist newly hired employees in obtaining a CDL license if needed.
Job Duties What You’ll Do:
Learn to climb trees! (Yes, we will pay you to do that.)
Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills
Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients, including but not limited to:
Tree identification and industry pruning guidelines
Prune, thin, and remove deadwood throughout the canopy
Install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems
Assist in removal of hazardous trees
Maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and more.

Qualifications What We’re Looking For:
Love of the outdoors
Preferred: background in forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or experience working at heights
Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving course upon hire
Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
