Environmental Aide 1st Shift – Wayne MED, UNC Health
Summary: The Environmental Services Aide provides daily cleaning of assigned areas of the hospital in accordance with established schedules, technical and administrative policies/procedures. Performs duties which include, but are not limited to restocking of supplies, daily cleaning, vacuuming, disinfecting and other duties as assigned. The goal is to provide quality service to every patient, every time.
Responsibilities
Performs daily cleaning in assigned areas according to established policies, procedures, and schedules.
Uses proper chemicals and follows correct procedures to complete assignments.
Maintains and cares for workplace and assigned equipment.
Responds to all requests in a timely manner.
Assists in maintaining a sanitary, safe, attractive and orderly facility.
Inspects and evaluates personal work and makes improvements as needed.
Informs Supervisor or teammate regarding any needed supplies or equipment issues.
Displays a positive attitude while engaging with all contacts within the hospital.
Helps support the "team" approach within the department and within the hospital.
Follows oral and written instructions.
Performs additional cleaning assignments as needed.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; any higher education from an accredited college will supersede this requirement. Opportunity to complete GED within 18 months of hire.
Experience:
1 year in Environmental Services or housekeeping preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
A cleaning certification preferred, but not mandatory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good customer service skills.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Basic knowledge of MS Office.
Ability to stand and walk for duration of shift.
Driver's License:
Valid NC Driver’s License: No. Must be 21 years old and MVR approved if driving Wayne UNC Vehicle.
