Job Summary Miller Electric – VDC Planner is responsible for the planning, layout, design, and coordination of assigned projects. They can rely upon their extensive level of electrical knowledge in the construction field.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Planning, layout, and design of electrical installations

This person has a thorough knowledge of electrical systems, construction documents, and quality construction work practices

Seeks ways to infuse quality and labor savings into overall layout efforts

Works with the Project Coordinator via VDC Planner Production Supervisor’s appointment

Review Construction Documents (Drawings and Specifications) notes, list what is important from a VDC viewpoint on the PLD Dashboard

Aids in the creation of detailed bill of materials for the Inwall Task only

Plan and lay out work for modeler’s use

Develop a 2D document plan based on specs, drawing notes, design drawings and all applicable codes for the modeler to create a digital model while instituting QA parameters

Maintain regular contact with the Project Personnel and collaborate project requirements

Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Licensed journeyman with 1-3 years of running work on construction jobsite

Demonstrates a willingness to learn and efficiently use software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft 365

Experience with team collaboration

Demonstrates problem‑solving ability and can work under rigorous schedules

Demonstrates organizational and communication skills

Proficient in reading and understanding of all forms of construction documents

Ability to interpret 2D plans and provide input to a 3D model

A commitment to continued learning and development

Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast‑paced environment
