Kitchell is seeking a forward-thinking, detail-oriented, and collaborative
Staff Accountant
at our Headquarters in
Phoenix
and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.
As a Staff Accountant, you will work with our Corporate Financial Services team to apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and assist in the day‑to‑day accounting processes as well as the month end financial close, interim audits, and ad hoc projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare monthly journal entries.
Reconcile assigned bank accounts to general ledger.
Reconcile and maintain general ledgers of assigned companies.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Calculate and review daily cash position reports and monitor daily investment of excess funds.
Prepare, review, and approve bank wire and account cash transfers.
Maintain fixed asset system by recording additions, disposals, and asset transfers.
Compute and record monthly fixed book depreciation expense.
Prepare income tax return workpapers for external tax accountants.
Prepare annual personal property tax returns and other required tax returns.
Prepare and provide financial work papers and schedules to external auditors.
Prepare ad hoc reports/analyses as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
Minimum 3 years position‑related work experience in accounting or related field.
Knowledge of accounting principles and GAAP.
Analytical skills.
Effective computer skills, including advanced use of Excel and proficient use of MS Word and MS Outlook.
Experience with Oracle Enterprise One accounting software.
Ability to perform required tasks with speed and accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
CPA License.
Work Environment
Relaxed and collaborative work environment including a flex work schedule with the ability to work from home two days a week.
Physical Requirements
This role routinely uses standard office equipment. An ergonomic desk is provided while in the to allow sitting or standing throughout the workday.
Travel Requirements
Limited to no travel will be required for this position.
