Job Overview San Bernardino County is recruiting for Electricians who install, maintain, replace, and service electrical systems and equipment in a variety of buildings throughout the County. Electricians work with both high voltage (120‑480v) and low voltage electrical systems and may access building automation system controls for troubleshooting and adjustments. Additional duties include interpreting electrical blue‑prints and schematics; testing, locating, and repairing electrical systems; conducting readings and rounds on equipment; performing preventative maintenance; and estimating material requirements.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, replace, and service electrical systems and equipment.

Work with high voltage (120‑480v) and low voltage electrical systems.

Access building automation controls to troubleshoot issues and make adjustments.

Interpret electrical blue‑prints and schematics.

Test, locate, and repair electrical systems.

Conduct readings and rounds on equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance.

Estimate material requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum five (5) years of full‑time journey‑level electrician experience performing installation, maintenance, and repair of building electrical systems.

Experience must include working with high voltage (over 120v) installations and repairs.

Alternatively, successful completion of a formal (four‑year) electrical apprenticeship program resulting in a journey‑level status.

Full understanding of NFPA 70E regulations.

Extensive experience as a journey‑level electrician, with high voltage (up to 480v) repairs, multiple buildings, and computerized building automation systems.

Legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Conditions of Employment

Pre‑employment background check and job‑related physical exam required, including drug test.

Occasional lifting of heavy objects, squatting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and stooping required.

Confined spaces and exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious materials, and radiation may occur.

Travel throughout the County required; possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license and insurance necessary. Mileage reimbursement available.

Overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
