Position Overview Electra is seeking an experienced and FAA‑licensed Airframe and Propulsion (A&P) Mechanic to join the A&P team. The role includes a wide spectrum of fabrication, assembly, test, and maintenance duties for prototype and production aircraft, with opportunities to influence the design of new aircraft products to assure airworthiness, maintainability, reliability, and manufacturability; to support the aircraft design and certification teams; and to maintain aircraft for sustained airworthiness. This role reports into the Manufacturing and Supply Chain organization and is based in Manassas, VA.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Participate in pre‑planning briefings to ensure complete understanding of project scope, man‑hour availability, and projected completion dates.

Ensure proper job planning so that parts and other resources are available in a timely manner to meet milestones and deadlines.

Demonstrate proper inspection and repair procedures.

Perform aircraft structural maintenance, repairs, modifications, and in‑depth inspections, including bucking rivets and repairing sheet metal, composite items, etc.

Perform quality checks using measurement tools and equipment.

Troubleshoot systems; disassemble, repair, and reassemble sections and components to maintain full functioning equipment according to approved technical data provided by the customer or engineering.

Perform line maintenance duties, activities and maintenance tasks as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

6+ years with a high school diploma and experience in general aviation aircraft.

Required Skills and Qualifications

A strong work ethic with experience in prototype (experimental) and production (certified) aircraft maintenance and repair under engineering guidance.

Experience with control of non‑conforming processes and materials.

Experience with structural materials including carbon fiber, kevlar, fiberglass, foam, balsa, mylar, aluminum, titanium, etc.

Inspection Authorization (IA) strongly preferred.

Prepreg and wet‑layup composites molding and vacuum‑bagging experience desired; aluminum airframe fabrication and assembly experience desired.

HV experience.

Aircraft rigging experience required; forklift experience preferred.

Familiarity with Part 5 SMS and Part 21/AS9100D QMS requirements.

Ability to influence the content of AMMs.

Must be able to lift at least 25 lb.

Occasional short‑term deployments to support customers.

Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).

Licensed pilot preferred (FAA, EASA, PPL, CPL, etc.).

Additional Information

Travel: Occasional travel ( Onsite presence: Expected onsite presence at our Manassas, VA headquarters.

Hourly Pay Electra’s hourly pay range for this position is $35–$45 per hour, paid over time. Individual pay is determined by additional factors, including project budgets, job‑related skills, experience, relevant education and training, role, level, location, and project needs.
