Project Engineer – Site Development (Civil)
Michigan (multiple locations) | Hybrid Our client is seeking a Project Engineer with strong private site development experience to act as a technical lead on civil projects. You’ll support a Project Manager, guide junior staff, and carry work from planning through construction. Key Responsibilities
Lead technical aspects of private site development projects under the direction of a Project Manager. Prepare engineering analyses, calculations, designs, and reports for assigned project components. Design grading, drainage, and underground utilities (water, sanitary, storm, fire protection). Perform hydrologic and hydraulic calculations for gravity and pressure systems and surface conveyance. Produce civil construction documents, including plans, details, and supporting calculations. Provide construction support: respond to RFIs, review submittals, visit job sites, and coordinate design revisions. Assist with zoning and land-use reviews, permit applications, and coordination with agencies. Attend occasional public meetings (e.g., planning commission, city council) to support project approvals. Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams. Qualifications
P.E. license or ability to obtain within ~3 months of hire. ~5+ years of civil engineering experience with increasing responsibility. At least 4 years focused on private site development projects. Proficient in AutoCAD for land development; Civil 3D experience preferred. Comfortable with standard engineering and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office). Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Work Setup
