Michael Foods is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, producing liquid egg, hard‑cook egg, and precooked egg products such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets. Our Gaylord facility is located in south central Minnesota, about an hour west of the Twin Cities.
Responsibilities The Production Supervisor oversees a team responsible for completing production and sanitation tasks. The role involves planning, directing, and coordinating work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing food products while ensuring adherence to safety, quality, quantity specifications, and cost targets. Key responsibilities include:
Leads team members to support safety, food safety, operations, sanitation, and personnel development; ensures a safe and healthy workplace.
Keeps management informed about operational, quality, and safety issues, employee concerns, and production cost control.
Adheres to safe work practices, GMPs, and maintains product quality; reports any conditions affecting food safety, quality, or personnel safety to management.
Produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost consistent with good manufacturing practices.
Recognizes and resolves operating problems to minimize their impact on operations.
Requests and directs services of maintenance, sanitation, and other personnel as necessary to achieve desired quality and safety levels.
Manages ingredient and packaging usage and all department costs.
Encourages employee suggestions to improve production, quality, safety and control costs.
Participates on the plant safety team and ensures regulatory compliance.
Cooperates with all departments to maintain coordinated work relationships.
Enforces company policies fairly and consistently.
Maintains consistent communications and participates in and leads meetings as required.
Leads or participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
Develops self and team members’ skill sets to improve work standards and performance.
Drives individual accountability and ownership of results in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
Keeps accurate and up‑to‑date records (timekeeping, downtime, absentee records, etc.).
Ensures a safe and healthy workplace and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
Willingness to work overtime or weekends as required.
Travel is minimal.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
2–3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in the food industry.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team‑building skills.
Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little or no supervision.
Strong organizational skills and ability to perform multi‑functional tasks.
Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required.
Bi‑lingual proficiency is a plus.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and group settings.
Problem‑solving skills.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in various formats.
Ability to learn and utilize various technology systems.
Pay Range:
$70,386 – $98,541 per year.
