Partnerships and Events Manager Overview This key position focuses on managing event partnerships, creating memorable experiences, and developing deep relationships, both internally and externally, to support our mission.
This role combines strategic sales leadership with hands‑on event management, driving revenue while creating meaningful experiences for both secured partners and participants.
This role reports to the Development Director.
Responsibilities Partnership Sales & Management
Full‑cycle sales ownership for partnership sales.
Identify, cultivate, and close corporate sponsors by networking and researching prospects.
Develop custom partnership proposals integrating event sponsorships, community programs, activations, digital visibility, and employee engagement.
Develop strategies to secure partnerships, achieve specific financial and in‑kind goals.
Track all activity in CRM: lead source, stage, probability, forecast value.
Participate in bi‑weekly pipeline reviews and quarterly goal setting with Development Director.
Create partnership proposals and respond to sponsorship requests; continuously improve materials.
Ensure smooth handoff to Partnership Coordinator for partnership activations and entitlements.
Exceed sponsor expectations in terms of service, benefits and overall value.
Manage Marathon Weekend photography partnership and other similar relationships.
Fully manage the Health Fitness Expo sales process and customer service.
Events
Lead strategy, planning, and execution of all TCM pre & post‑race festivals, 27th Mile, expos, and other community program experience opportunities.
Manage marquee events experiences including Health & Fitness Expo (45,000 attendees).
Manage marquee events experiences including Develop and launch annual spring Gear‑Up Expo.
Manage marquee events experiences including Saturday & Sunday Beer Garden operations.
Manage marquee events experiences including Sunday VIP Program & Event Experience (800 guests).
Manage marquee events experiences including Opening Ceremony Marathon Weekend Kick‑Off event.
Oversee experience ideation, layout creation, crowd flow management, logistics, and partner/vendor activations.
Create, manage, and track event revenue and expense budgets.
Collaborate with Race Operations, Marketing, Registration, and Volunteer teams to optimize experiences.
Provide race‑day hands‑on support and on‑site direction for volunteers, partners, and vendors.
Support TCM Events & Services committee, helping guide strategy, budgets, and planning.
Provide race day volunteer direction as it relates to post‑race festivals and partnerships.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum 6+ years of sales experience in corporate partnerships, sponsorships, or related B2B sales; nonprofit fundraising or mission‑based partnership development strongly preferred.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding individual revenue targets with strength in building lasting client relationships and delivering financial results.
Highly motivated self‑starter with an entrepreneurial spirit; ability to take ownership, work independently, and thrive in a fast‑paced, continually changing environment.
Strong event management and operations experience across multiple events and timelines; experience with community‑focused or mission‑driven events a plus.
Strong collaboration skills with ability to manage laterally and develop working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Creativity and innovation with passion for making events and programs compelling for participants and partners.
Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM/database management (Salesforce or similar) for pipeline tracking and revenue reporting.
Commitment to support all TCM’s calendar of events.
Serve as a knowledgeable TCM Ambassador at events, in the community, and through requested outreach.
Ability to regularly lift weights for events up to 25 lbs. and occasionally weights up to 40 lbs., travel around the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and attend evening and weekend meetings and events.
Reports to Development Director.
Status Full‑Time, exempt, hybrid work environment with mandatory in‑office days/weeks.
Salary Range $63,000 – $68,000 plus performance bonus.
