Position Summary The advanced practice provider provides inpatient and outpatient management, consultations, and co‑management of patients in the acute care and practice setting. Responsibilities
Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, diagnostic studies and recognize deviations from the normal. Then develop a diagnosis and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to formulate and implement the treatment plan.
Surgically close wounds, incision and drainage, debridement, dressing (the surgeon must remain in the immediate area).
Scrub with collaborating surgeon in operating room.
Perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as credentialed.
Diagnose medical and surgical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
Implement appropriate management based on laboratory results, physical assessment, routine diagnostic and follow‑up studies, therapeutic measures, admission, and discharge care in accordance with evidence‑based medicine.
Identify, analyze, and resolve patient care issues to foster significant improvement in patient care and outcomes.
Dictate and document in an accurate and timely manner.
Perform patient education and maintain provision of preventive health services.
Conduct or participate in multidisciplinary rounds.
Participate in the department on call rotation and/or weekend/holiday rounding as required.
Prescribe medication.
Participate in quality initiatives to ensure consistent attainment of key quality indicators.
Support IRB approved clinical research/trials through a variety of activities including but not limited to ordering diagnostic tests, prescreening patients, recording laboratory and diagnostic results, administering therapeutic interventions per trial protocols and documenting outcomes per hospital and trial protocols.
Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Act as a role model and resource person for staff.
Assist in teaching students, residents and interns in complex techniques and procedures.
Participate in review and revision of policies and procedures.
Establish relationships with professional and other health‑related groups within the community.
Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication with diverse populations, including physicians, employees, patients, and families.
Qualifications Education/Training
MN or MSN or DNP or PhD or DNS degree in nursing.
Graduate of accredited physician assistant program.
Licensure/Certification
Nurse Practitioner: APRN license in the state of Florida; national advanced certification required; BLS certification.
Physician Assistant: current physician assistant licensure in State of Florida; BLS/healthcare certification.
