Event Coordinator – External Events Join to apply for the Event Coordinator – External Events role at Liberty University.

The University Events Office Event Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the scheduling, logistical planning, and support for events on the Liberty University campus. The role includes coordinating sound support, facility set‑up, housekeeping, and additional services for academic, departmental, and external events.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

Develop and cultivate relationships with both on- and off‑campus customers.

Provide support, information, and guidance in the process of scheduling and planning departmental events in Liberty University facilities.

Assist with scheduling all external and wedding events all year round.

Scheduling, logistical planning, and special coordination for external events and weddings.

Develop policies and standards for scheduling external events and weddings.

Help develop standard operating procedures for the University Events Office.

Help lead and invest in teammates and student workers that are part of the University Events Office.

Promote an atmosphere of professionalism and outstanding customer service in accordance with the Liberty Way.

Complete special projects as assigned.

Remain abreast of all events held on campus.

Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.

Qualifications And Credentials Education and experience: Four‑year college degree in business or marketing, or equivalent professional work experience preferred. Well‑developed interpersonal communication skills and familiarity with standard Microsoft Office computer software.

Abilities and Competencies Essential to the Function of the Job Communication and Comprehension

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well‑articulated information.

Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.

Strong organizational skills.

Excellent computer skills.

Problem Solving

Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

Required to travel to local and campus locations.

Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.

Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.

Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.

Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.

Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Working Conditions Work Environment: The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is within a business environment and climate‑controlled office setting. It is well lit and the noise level is moderate.

Driving Requirements: Use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) is required for travel in the performance of the essential functions of this position. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
