Part-Time Communications and Content Manager
The Construction Exchange of Buffalo & WNY is a trusted trade association that has served the construction industry since 1981. With a network of over 900 member companies in Western New York, the organization provides resources to promote member success, including advocacy, information sharing, education, networking opportunities, and programs designed to offer a competitive edge.
Role Description The Construction Exchange is looking for a dynamic and creative individual to serve as Communications and Content Manager. This part-time position is 20 hours per week, with three days in the office and two days remote. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer with social media and client communications experience. The Communications and Content Manager is responsible for digital and print communication with the 900+ members.
Responsibilities
Managing vendors and writers, overseeing design, layout and production for the twice-per-year Building Western New York magazine
Promoting the Building Western New York magazine to members and article contributors
Working with advertisers to ensure ads meet design specifications
Researching and compiling information, writing, and creating the weekly digital newsletter for association members and the construction community
Managing association social media accounts, including content creation, scheduling, and performance monitoring
Coordinating and overseeing print mailings to the association membership
Compiling and reporting on data related to member engagement and the effectiveness of communications
Developing and executing strategies to maximize the effectiveness of membership communications
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in communications, marketing, or content-focused roles
Strong writing and editing skills for social, email, print, and digital communications
Hands-on experience managing social media accounts for an organization or brand
Proficiency in Canva for creating on-brand graphics and simple layouts
Experience using Constant Contact (or similar email marketing platforms) to create, schedule, and deploy campaigns
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Comfort coordinating with vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders
High attention to detail, especially for emails, print materials, and mailed communications
Basic understanding of email and social performance metrics
Experience coordinating print mailings or magazine content (deadlines, specs, submissions)
Ability to work independently in a part-time, self-directed role
Familiarity with brand guidelines and maintaining consistency across channels
