Transmission Superintendent Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC), a generation and transmission electric cooperative based in Southern Illinois, is looking to hire a Transmission Superintendent. The position is located south of Marion, Illinois, near Lake of Egypt.

Deadline to Apply: March 2, 2026 Salary Range: $130k to $160k

Duties and Responsibilities

Management and supervision of 4+ SIPC employees.

Project management and supervision of multiple transmission line and vegetation management contract crews.

Management of in-house and contract transmission line design.

Annual capital and O&M expense budget preparation, management, and tracking.

Preparation and implementation of transmission line construction and vegetation management contracts, including managing schedules, performing quality control, and invoice reconciliation.

Provisioning materials for line construction, maintenance, and outage restoration projects.

Preparation of switching orders for construction, maintenance, and outage events.

Assistance in communicating with property owners associated with SIPC’s transmission system.

Assistance in obtaining state and federal grants and/or RUS funding (work plans, borrowers environmental reports, etc.) for transmission line projects.

Assistance in management of inventory (charge outs, returns, annual inventory count, etc.).

Assistance in ground and aerial inspections of SIPC’s transmission system.

Position Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of experience with electrical utilities and project management.

5+ years of supervisory experience.

Experience with transmission line construction and maintenance including right-of-way, vegetation management and outage restoration.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Willingness to attend continuing education courses, complete certifications, and participate in meetings and training sessions, both online and out-of-town, as needed.

Computer skills (Microsoft Office suite, email, etc.).

Some work outside of typical working hours will be required.
