Position Summary The

Project Engineer

supports Ergon's Corporate Engineering function by managing capital projects across Ergon's Refineries and Chemical Plants. This role provides end-to-end project leadership for medium to large capital investments, typically ranging from

$2MM to $50MM , ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality execution.

Working closely with Facility Management, Business Unit Operations, and Corporate Engineering, the Project Engineer leads project scoping, budgeting, execution planning, and delivery while championing best practices, strong contractor partnerships, and disciplined project management processes. This position plays a critical role in supporting Ergon's long-term facility planning, operational reliability, and customer-focused growth.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as Project Manager for assigned capital projects, providing leadership through scope development, engineering design, budgeting, contractor selection, execution, and closeout

Develop and manage project execution plans, schedules, cost controls, and risk mitigation strategies

Lead the development of

Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs)

and support funding approval processes

Coordinate with engineering consultants and contractors to develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and technical deliverables

Review and approve drawings, specifications, calculations, and project documentation

Provide oversight of construction activities to ensure safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control

Participate in

PSSR, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and project close‑out activities

Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations

Develop, track, and report project

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Support due diligence activities for asset acquisitions and greenfield facility evaluations

Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to support long‑term execution success

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline (required)

Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with minimal supervision

Proven ability to collaborate in a team‑oriented environment while delivering customer‑focused solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in

Mechanical or Civil Engineering

Experience supporting capital projects at Chemical Plants or Refineries

Experience managing engineering consultants, contractors, and construction activities

Working knowledge of capital project controls, cost estimating, scheduling, and execution planning

Strong commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and disciplined project execution
