Department Overview Electric Transmission & Distribution ensures the delivery of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy to nearly 16 million people in Northern and Central California. The Electric Transmission & Distribution Team is responsible for ensuring the electric grid's reliability and resiliency through the ongoing maintenance and operations of PG&E's 100,000 miles of distribution lines and over 18,000 miles of Transmission lines. Coworkers in Electric Transmission & Distribution actively engage in the Lean Methodology through the use of visual management in operating reviews to cross-functionally identify and solve problems, and create standard work. By working together as One Electric. One Team. We are delivering for our hometowns. Electric Transmission & Distribution is comprised of approximately 6,500 coworkers.

Position Summary Coordinates and assembles work and resource plans that align with the budget plan. Monitors weekly and annual execution of the work plan by the Transmission and Distribution execution organizations. Understands the effectiveness of, and recommends improvements in business process, practice and procedures as they relate to the identification of known work and work management data quality in the various work management systems. May work closely with the GO Business Finance team to monitor and reallocate budget between programs and maintain an overall view of budget performance.

Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory in the East Bay region; please note hiring leader will make final decision on appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.

Incumbent will need to host weekly in person meetings at headquarters but out of area travel will be minimal, approximately 15%.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (East Bay region).

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case‑by‑case basis related to these factors.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $122,000

Bay Area Maximum: $194,000

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Job Responsibilities

Develop new and innovative work & resource planning solutions, tools and processes

Lead peers and stakeholders in assigned work streams to develop a prioritized and optimized annual work plan portfolio, supported by a strategic, balanced annual resource plan.

Lead, track and report on work progression. Derive key messages from work progression reporting and communicate necessary actions to stakeholders.

Have complete understanding of end-to-end process (workflow) knowledge of at least two work streams and working knowledge of the companion work management system or systems.

Evaluate the associated costs and resources needed to execute work plans; establish a baseline strategic approach to work plan execution; develop new reports as needed to refine work plan portfolio and execution analysis.

Support the development of contingency plans to assure work readiness if work and financial plans require adjustment and recommend adjustments as necessary.

Identify issues such as actual cost or resource data outside of plan. Investigate to determine cause of variance, reach out to stakeholders and make recommendations or actions to correct.

Organize and lead cross-functional stakeholder project teams and meetings.

Lead and partner with peers and stakeholders to develop integrated work plans, project plan updates and presentation materials for regular work and budget meetings.

Lead and participate on special initiatives project teams as work planning subject matter expert.

Work with Directors and Managers across Gas Operations to influence decisions and actions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, business administration or comparable quantitative field or equivalent related work experience.

7 years of relevant work experience with steady progression of responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications

Utility, energy or regulatory industry experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and (Technical) Competencies

Broad understanding of the utility or energy industry drivers, issues and trends.

Advanced knowledge of long-term strategic resource/operational planning theories, concepts, practices, methods and techniques.

Advanced data analysis, benchmarking, monitoring and business/financial analysis skills including knowledge of varied analytical methods.

Expert analytical problem solving and decision-making skills to develop comprehensive solutions.

Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Adaptable to changing business conditions and ambiguity.

Broad expertise in business and work planning processes (e.g., Units, Maintenance Activity Type (MAT) Codes, Provider Cost Center (PCC) Codes, dates, activities, systems, etc.).

Effectively gains buy-in from leaders inside and outside of the department.

Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, Visual Basic Applications (VBA) or similar software.
