Seafood Associate Team Leader (Assistant Department Manager) – Whole Foods Market
This position assists the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects. The role leads and develops team members, ensuring a positive company image and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
Base Pay Range $20.05/hr – $35.00/hr
Job Responsibilities
Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising.
Work with the Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
Assist with analysis of sales, reports, and labor.
Assist in annual sales and expense projections and budget preparation.
Assist with ordering and inventory management.
Work with the Team Leader to resolve team concerns or issues.
Act as point person and departmental supervisor in the absence of the Team Leader.
Set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, directing team members to satisfy and delight customers.
Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
Communicate and maintain team member safety and security standards; provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations.
Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market vision and goals.
Qualifications

Experience
18+ months retail Team Member experience and 6+ months supervisory experience.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
In an 8‑hour workday: standing/walking 6‑8 hours.
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
Work requires bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
Exposure to temperatures:
90°F.
Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
Ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
