Overview
Trueline’s client, a well established commercial construction and construction management firm serving the greater New England area, is seeking a Construction Estimator to join their team in New England. This role reports to the President and CEO and is central to shaping accurate cost estimates and winning commercial project bids. It offers the chance to lead pre‑construction efforts from early budgeting through bid award and turnover.
Responsibilities
Review bid documents thoroughly and assess risk, constructability, logistics, sequencing, phasing, and schedule constraints
Develop bid strategies with the internal team to ensure competitive and accurate proposals
Perform detailed trade and vendor take‑offs and level costs for accuracy and scope alignment
Prepare scopes of work, detailed estimates, and complete proposal packages with CSI breakdowns, alternates, allowances, qualifications, and exclusions
Communicate collaboratively with trades, vendors, design teams, clients, and internal stakeholders throughout pre‑construction
Build and maintain positive trade partner and vendor relationships and grow the company’s database
Lead RFQ setup and distribution with support from the Assistant Estimator
Attend and document pre‑bid meetings, prepare preliminary schedules, and create value engineering options
Enter cost codes and budgets into the company’s construction management software and organize bid documentation
Support the project management team with buy‑out tasks and change order pricing as needed
Qualifications Must‑Haves
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
2 to 4 years of commercial construction estimating experience
Strong work ethic and ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment
Excellent communication, organization, and team collaboration skills
Detail oriented with a client‑focused approach
Nice‑to‑Haves
Experience with construction management software and cost history databases
Prior exposure to a wide range of commercial sectors such as retail, restaurant, corporate, and tenant fit‑outs
Familiarity with pre‑bid meetings and owner presentations
