Principal responsibilities
Direct, develop, mentor, and motivate a team of approximately 10 highly skilled and experienced engineers and applications technician professionals across a given geographic area
Ensure all project planning is completed with focus on scope, schedule, and budgets
Ensure installations, commissioning, and training for customers in applications technologies is completed in a manner commensurate with our values and standards
Gain an understanding of the engineering support needs of your Field Project Execution team along with the Application Sales and Commercial teams and assign resources to satisfy those needs in a timely manner
Ensuring alignment with the HSE, Markets Engineering and Fabrication Teams to provide leadership and expertise in:
The Messer Viper project execution process
Engineering management of change
Support the Investigation of all safety incidents, including root cause analysis and sharing of lessons learned
Support and steer the technical learning and development for the team:
Define training needs for the Project Execution Team organization
Manage the Learning Management System to track training for all
Lead root cause analysis for extraordinary applications equipment issues in the Americas; provide forensic process engineering as needed in understanding timeline and triggers.
Support the Messer Application Development team with engineering expertise in the installation, start up and commissioning of new products and applications
Technical
Extensive knowledge of Industrial Bulk Gases; LIN, LOX, LAR, LH2 and LCO2
Extensive knowledge of Messer applications equipment, PLC’s HMI’s, Process Flow Diagrams, and integration of Messer equipment into a customer’s processes
Strong knowledge of bulk gas storage, vaporization, and regulation equipment
Extensive knowledge of relevant codes and standards; CGA, NFPA, BOCA etc.
Utilize and interpret technical drawings, assemble information and P&ID’s with vendors. Red-line technical drawings and P&ID’s to show as built designs
Required Skills
Possesses strong communications skills at all levels
Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment
Possesses the ability to think strategically, devise and implement strategy
Demonstrated ability to challenge the status quo and improve existing processes/programs
Team building and motivation
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Strong leadership skills
Experience managing professional engineers Project management – experience handling multiple projects and process improvement programs
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical or chemical, advanced degree preferred
At least 10 years within the Industrial Gases business, of which
At least 3 years in a management or coaching/mentoring role
At least 7 years in an Engineering role
The salary range for this position is $117,000-$156,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as, long term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these Plans.
Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer’s 401(k) Plan. Employees may be eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program.
