Cabin Leader I

and help create a safe, engaging camp experience for youth.

Position Summary The Cabin Leader works closely with the Program Director, residing in a cabin with campers and guiding daily routines, scheduled activities, and general supervision. Cabin Leaders lead games, hikes, and recreational activities, assist with camper management at specialized program sites, support User Groups, and help facilitate camp programs as needed.

Responsibilities

Participant and Camper Engagement

– Provide excellent service to program participants, foster connections among campers, build respectful relationships, recognize positive growth, and support campers in understanding their environment.

Safety and Compliance

– Prioritize participant safety by following emergency protocols, maintain health hygiene standards, and ensure compliance with YMCA, American Camp Association, and local/state/federal standards.

Leadership and Supervision

– Supervise a cabin group, follow the camp schedule, plan engaging activities that support personal growth, uphold discipline, and maintain a professional and respectful environment.

Facility Maintenance

– Keep camp and cabin areas clean, encouraging respect for facilities and the environment.

Professionalism and Administration

– Maintain professional appearance, submit accurate incident reports, health logs, and timecards on time.

Program Participation

– Actively participate in cabin, unit, and camp-wide activities and assist in program areas.

Work Environment & Physical Demands The role involves working outdoors with campers, residing overnight, and requiring physical stamina, mobility, and the ability to lift equipment. Expect extended standing, walking, and variable hours, including overnight shifts. Meals and lodging are provided during the summer camp program.
