Job Description Summary: The Smart Start Preschool Learning Center in Hamden is seeking an experienced Infant Teacher.
Duties
Supervise and Care for Children : Monitor and ensure the safety and well‑being of children at all times.
Develop and Implement Lesson Plans : Create daily and weekly lesson plans that include a variety of activities aimed at the children’s development (e.g., arts and crafts, music, reading, physical activities).
Promote Development : Foster the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth of children through various interactive activities.
Behavior Management : Maintain a positive, calm, and structured environment by using age‑appropriate behavioral management techniques.
Assess Children’s Progress : Observe and document the development of children, keeping records of their growth and behavior, and report findings to parents and guardians as needed.
Collaborate with Team Members : Work closely with other teachers and staff to ensure consistent, high‑quality care for all children.
Communicate with Parents : Regularly communicate with parents to provide updates on their child’s progress and development.
Maintain a Safe Environment : Ensure the classroom and play areas are safe and clean, adhering to all safety and health regulations.
Support Children’s Emotional Needs : Be attentive to children’s emotional needs and provide a comforting and encouraging environment.
Prepare and Organize Materials : Set up and clean up materials for activities and ensure the classroom is stocked with necessary supplies.
Follow Regulatory Standards : Ensure compliance with local, state, and national regulations regarding early childhood education and care.
Requirements Education : A high school diploma is required, and many employers prefer a degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Experience : Previous experience working with children, especially in a daycare, preschool, or kindergarten setting, is often required.
Certifications : CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
