Job Description Camp Counselors are an integral part of the camp team. We are seeking energetic, fun, and engaging individuals to inspire our teen campers to become the best version of themselves.

For the day camps, provide support and create a safe, supportive environment for 2-6th grade students participating in camp activities. Guide students through their camp experience by assisting with academics, leadership development, team building, peer relationships, recreational activities, and serving as a mentor. Build connections, both individually and collectively, with campers by planning and leading intentional in-person interactions, group activities, and workshops.

Camp Counselors also monitor student engagement, ensure safety protocols are followed, and help students adapt to the camp routine. RAs should be highly accessible throughout the camp day and actively involved in activities across campus.

We are seeking mature, dependable, energetic young adults who enjoy working with teens. Ideal opportunity for future educators, but all majors encouraged.

Primary Responsibilities

Monitoring, leading, and encouraging a team of students in daily and weekly activities. Supervising student participants.

Working as part of a team to create a successful, safe, and fun learning environment for students.

Assisting professional staff members.

Leading lesson plans for students.

Enforcing the rules of the Camp Code of Conduct and holding students accountable for their behaviors.

Taking responsibility for the safety of students and other staff members by observing surroundings, identifying problems or students in distress, and responding according to protocol.

Preparing reports and correspondence, including, but not limited to, incident reports and emails to camp staff.

Planning, leading, and participating in group activities, workshops, and recreational sessions, guiding campers between activities and ensuring adherence to the daily schedule.

Assisting with setup and cleanup of camp activities and spaces as needed.

Qualifications

Graduated high school in 2022 or earlier and completed 60 college credits by the end of spring semester 2025, with a 2.5 minimum GPA.

Good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with NKU.

Effective communication skills; able to give directions and lead students in an emergency. Valid driver’s license for emergency driving.

Comfortable enforcing policy, upholding university policies such as Community Standards & Student Rights, Housing Policies, Rules & Regulations.

Attend all training prior to camp's start and be available for the entire camp.

Requirement: pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.

Minimum Education 1-2 Years of College.

Pay Rate $13 per hour.
