Salary:
$55.44 per contact hour
Purpose and Scope Provide learning activities and support that lead to the achievement of course objectives, contributing to the educational environment.
Essential Job Functions
Teach Government courses at various times and locations.
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material.
Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner.
Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following institutional guidelines.
Meet with and advise students (in‑person, electronic, appointment) before or after class.
Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them of outcomes promptly.
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community.
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required.
Perform other reasonable duties assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of course content.
Demonstrated leadership and collaborative teamwork skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work with diverse people.
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies.
Commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning culture.
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology use.
Effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in political science/government, or Master’s with 18 graduate hours in the field (or equivalent).
JD and MPA with 18 graduate hours in related political science/government courses.
Physical and Work Conditions The work is sedentary with occasional walking or light lifting; no special physical demands required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
Interaction with internal and external contacts as needed.
Work occurs within climate‑controlled classrooms/labs with minimal hazards.
Hours vary with class times; instructors must be available to students outside instruction periods.
