Ability to collaborate with and teach students from diverse backgrounds fostering an inclusive learning environment while imparting the principles of theatre arts with a focus on scenic design and construction. Skilled at adapting instructional methods to meet varying skill levels and learning styles. Expertise in scenic design for theatrical productions including plays and musical performances across multiple venue types such as proscenium stages, black box theatres, and non‑traditional performance spaces. Adept at creating designs that balance artistic vision with practical considerations such as budget, safety and technical feasibility. Highly proficient in producing professional‑grade communication tools for production teams, including CAD drafting packets, scaled production models, white models, painters’ elevations, 3‑D renderings and detailed scene sheets. Demonstrated ability to translate creative concepts into clear actionable technical documentation. Ability to paint scenery utilizing industry‑standard techniques, textures and finishes to achieve visually compelling and durable stage environments. Experienced in color theory, faux finishes and specialty painting methods commonly employed in professional theatre. Comprehensive knowledge of scenic construction materials and methods including lumber, metals, plastics and advanced fabrication techniques such as welding, CNC routing and 3‑D printing. Skilled in integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies to produce high‑quality scenic elements. Certified and experienced in the safe operation and supervision of Ariel Work Platforms (AWPs) and Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs), ensuring compliance with safety standards and best practices during all phases of scenic installation and strike. Understanding of Career and Technical Education (CTE) program objectives supported by extensive hands‑on experience as a theatrical technician and stagehand in theme parks and entertainment venues. Committed to preparing students for real‑world careers in the performing arts and entertainment industries. Experience collaborating with faculty, staff or community leaders in programs and initiatives that are specifically designed to assist historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals. Minimum Qualifications

– Bachelors degree in any discipline AND at least two years of professional experience. – Associate degree in any discipline AND at least six years of professional experience. – Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service at a community college in the appropriate subject area OR the equivalent. – Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee. – Commitment to diversity.
