Responsibilities
Receive and process specimen shipments
Prepare samples for routine testing and analysis
Conduct testing under supervision of a senior staff
Perform routine technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Contribute to molecular biology and genomics workflow development and improvements
Ensure accurate and consistent recording of experiment methods, materials and results; keep a high-quality laboratory notebook
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot equipment to ensure proper functionality
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe lab environment
Assist with safety, hazardous waste, and facilities
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
Perform other duties as needed
Adjust work schedule to meet time‑sensitive project milestones
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a life science or equivalent
One year of experience working in a lab setting
Knowledge of basic laboratory safety and protocol
Skilled in working with basic laboratory equipment
Strong understanding of standard molecular biology techniques (such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA/RNA isolation)
Proficiency with basic computer skills, including data entry, spreadsheets, and document preparation
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
