Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity for an entry‑level civil engineer to join our growing aviation team. The position will assist experienced staff with tasks related to the design of engineering projects, working from our Santa Rosa, CA office location.
Responsibilities
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents, computations and quantity estimates
Assists with analysis and preparation of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits, and designs for projects
Performs drafting tasks in AutoCAD and Civil3D to generate plan sheets
Assists with construction administration tasks including working in the field at project sites (weekends and nights, as needed). May serve as onsite project representative
May visit project sites to monitor progress and perform other duties per the contract documents
Reads and interprets FAA Advisory Circulars, geotechnical reports, and survey data to utilize in project designs
Assists with development of probable construction cost estimates for projects
Carries out job‑specific quality system tasks as defined in quality manual
May assist with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
May attend client meetings – days or nights
Selected candidates will have the following:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university
0‑2 years related experience
Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:
Civil Engineering degree (bachelor’s or higher)
FE exam passed or scheduled within six months of hire
Previous internships or employment in related aviation/airport industry
Coursework in civil/transportation design
Experience with construction field tasks including site grading, utilities, drainage, erosion control, paving, materials testing, surveying
AutoCAD and Civil 3D software proficiency
Microsoft Office software proficiency
Previous experience with client or customer interactions
