Job Description Lab Associate II - San Juan Capistrano, CA
(Tuesday to Saturday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM)
Department : Spec Chem – LCMS/MS – Clinical Laboratory
Pay range : $21.92 – $28.23 per hour. Employees may be eligible for a shift differential of 10 % for some or all hours on second shift, and 15 % for some or all hours on third shift. Details available if an offer is extended.
Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

This position is non‑licensed and is responsible for general laboratory support, following all applicable policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Prepare and organize samples for testing (sample racking, aliquoting, tube preparation).
Label, handle, process or prepare specimens and manage transport and storage.
Identify and resolve sample problems; demonstrate problem‑solving on service and production issues.
Prepare testing equipment and assist with preventive maintenance; notify technical staff of equipment problems.
Assist licensed personnel or delegated supervisor in pre‑analytic and post‑analytic testing activities.
Prepare pre‑analytical reagents and controls; submit documentation for approval.
Maintain accurate records of reagents, media, and inventory; order, unpack, log, date, and rotate stock.
Accession and sort incoming specimens into LIS and deliver to appropriate platform.
Enter and transcribe data for reduction and review by licensed personnel.
Tally workload data and prepare reports as requested.
Assist with quality control procedures.
Prepare protocols/logs and other documents.
Identify specimen problems and resolve or elevate to licensed personnel.
Assist with validation verifications and R&D activities when applicable.
Train other Lab Associates and support training programs.
Suggest improvements to efficiency and productivity; provide feedback; contribute to process improvement.
Demonstrate leadership through accountability and collaboration.
Answer phones, transfer calls, and take accurate messages; maintain confidentiality.
Keep laboratory areas neat, clean, and organized.
Comply with health and safety policies; use personal protective equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Work Experience
1 year of experience in histopathology, cytology, or other laboratory settings.
1 year handling PHI and using a Laboratory Information System.
Preferred Work Experience
2–3 years of laboratory experience.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Lifting: 1–10 lb frequently; 11–25 lb occasionally; 26–50 lb seldom; >50 lb requires assistance.
Perform repetitive tasks with dominant hand.
Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
Good eye and hand coordination.
Knowledge
Reagent stability and storage.
Factors influencing test results.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong typing skills desirable.
Communication and interpersonal skills; courteous and effective with management, co‑workers, and clients.
Automation skills helpful.
