This position is a member of our Air Permits Division.
Responsibilities
Review routine air permit applications (i.e., projects), ensuring high quality work and completing the required quantity of projects within established time frames.
Conduct a comprehensive technical review for projects to include defining all sources of contaminants, applying appropriate federal and state requirements, reviewing emission calculations, drafting permit documents, and completing technical review summaries.
Prepare public notice authorizations and complete associated tasks.
Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the general public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
Assist in the development and maintenance of technical guidance packages and policy memos, assist in the coordination of streamlining activities, and represent the division and agency at meetings, training sessions, presentations, etc.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in engineering, physical science, environmental science, or a related field.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineering Specialist I state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Environmental Permit Specialist I series.
Work Schedule Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Permits Division.
