Schneider Deli is a modern Jewish deli rooted in tradition, known for house‑made food, high‑volume service, and a strong neighborhood following. Our River North location is fast‑paced, guest‑focused, and built around consistency, hospitality, and quality.
Position Overview The Cashier is the first and last point of contact for our guests. This role is responsible for delivering warm, efficient service while accurately handling orders and payments in a high‑volume environment. Ideal candidates are friendly, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working quickly without sacrificing hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Greet guests warmly and guide them through the menu
Accurately take orders in person and via online ordering platforms
Operate POS system, process cash and card payments, and manage tabs
Communicate clearly with kitchen and expediting staff
Handle takeout and delivery orders with accuracy and care
Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked front counter area
Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned
Uphold Schneider Deli’s standards for service, food safety, and professionalism
Qualifications
Prior cashier or counter service experience preferred (restaurant or café environment a plus)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast‑paced setting
Comfortable standing for long periods and working during busy service times
Basic math skills and attention to detail
Team‑oriented mindset with a positive attitude
Schedule & Availability
Flexible availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays
Shifts may vary based on business needs
