Job Description:As a Student Life Assistant Manager at Berklee College of Music, you’ll play an integral role in elevating the student experience for high school students in our diverse Summer Programs. Reporting to the Associate Director of Summer Programs Student Life, your responsibilities span a variety of on-campus activities, from managing initial check-ins and event planning to providing crucial emergency management in collaboration with the Student Life team. This multifaceted role requires effective communication with parents and guardians post-enrollment, fostering community among students, and liaising with program directors and various college departments. You’ll oversee the planning and implementation of extracurricular events, uphold program policies by scheduling conduct meetings, and contribute to cross-departmental coordination and staff training. As a key figure in the residential education staff, you’ll ensure a vibrant, inclusive, and well-managed living and learning environment, making a lasting impact on our summer community.****ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:***** Live on-campus throughout Summer Programs* Cross-Training: Participate in comprehensive training sessions to gain a working knowledge of all essential systems and processes, such as Housing Apps, Colleague, Magnus, CrowdCompass, Salesforce, StarRez and Google Drive* Roommate Requests: Responsible for processing Summer Programs roommate requests, including: student/parent communication, verifying eligibility, administrative back-end work in StarRez* Event Planning and Oversight: Plan and implement extracurricular events, providing chaperone support and selecting venues based on student feedback, such as taking the students on trips to places like the Museum of Science or Franklin Park Zoo* Policy Enforcement: Schedule conduct meetings, assist with program attendance challenges, and other participant concerns.* Communication: Serve as a key point of contact, facilitating communication and coordination among the Summer Programs team, parents/guardians post-enrollment, program directors, Tufts medical team, and various departments across the college* Resource Management: Responsible for key inventory including key pulling for check-ins, key return, lost key charges, key code & pull spreadsheets. Maintain and update resource folders used by all Summer Programs staff for communication, policy enforcement, event management, and other summer operations.* Serve as Administrator on Call: Serve as administrative support on-call in coordination with the crisis response team. Duties include: Being present at Summer Programs check-ins, assisting students who are checking in outside of designated check-in windows, being active in On Call Slack channel, parent communications, scheduling of hospital shift SLOAs, checking various sheets and email correspondence in off-duty hours and on weekends, key reintegration after move-outs, arranging as needed transportation for students as approved by the Director and Associate Director of Summer Programs Student Life.****SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:****A Student Life Assistant Manager will oversee a team of Student Life Operations Assistants (SLOAs), including their training, scheduling, chaperone responsibilities, scheduling and timecards. ****PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:***** Previous experience in Summer Programs or higher education student affairs preferred or comparable experience****SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:***** Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills* Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines* Strong commitment to providing excellent customer service* Proficiency with various computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Google Suite****TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:****Position begins June 1, 2025 and ends on August 14, 2024. (There is some flexibility for those who may need an end-date of August 7th.)
Employees must be available for key weekends, specifically Aspire: Five-Week Summer Performance's check-in and check-out (July 5th & August 7th). ****COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:****Up to a $9,100 stipend for the full-time period above, or the equivalent thereof, based on availability within the above-listed date ranges, paid bi-weekly. Fully furnished, single-occupancy room on campus in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. Free gym access, Wi-Fi, and a meal plan.
