Job Description
Brown Motors is expanding its commercial and heavy-duty service operation and hiring Heavy-Duty / Diesel Technicians to support a rapidly growing Ford and Stellantis fleet business. Based in northern Michigan, Brown Motors has served the community since 1898 and recently completed a 15,000 sq ft expansion dedicated to commercial and heavy-duty service.
The expansion includes brand-new heavy-duty bays, upgraded tooling, and an expanded parts warehouse. Technicians work in a purpose-built environment designed to support productivity, safety, and long-term success.
This role is ideal for technicians with medium-duty or heavy-duty experience, diesel experience, or prior Ford or Stellantis exposure. Technicians without brand-specific backgrounds but with strong fundamentals and a desire to grow are encouraged to apply.
The commercial and fleet business continues to expand, providing consistent workflow, steady hours, and strong flag opportunity. Guaranteed pay is provided during onboarding and ramp-up, allowing technicians to transition confidently while learning processes and equipment.
The schedule is Monday through Friday with some Saturdays as needed. No Sundays. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.
Compensation Overview
Compensation is based on skill level and certification and is paid on a flat rate structure, supplemented by heavy-duty premiums and productivity bonuses.
Base flat rate up to $36.35 per hour for Senior Master Certified Technicians
Additional $2.00 per flat rate hour for heavy-duty and commercial truck work
Productivity bonuses up to $6.00 per flat rate hour at 60+ flagged hours
Top-performing technicians can earn up to $45.20 per flat rate hour based on certification, productivity, and work mix.

$50 annual boot allowance
Flat rate pay on all warranty repairs

Diagnose, repair, and maintain Ford and Stellantis heavy-duty, diesel, and commercial fleet vehicles in accordance with OEM standards
Perform accurate troubleshooting using advanced diagnostic tools and proper repair procedures
Service a mix of fleet, commercial, upfitted, and customer-owned heavy-duty vehicles
Communicate repair findings and status updates clearly with service advisors and leadership
Complete inspections and document work thoroughly and accurately
Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment
Participate in ongoing certification training and continuous process improvement initiatives
Requirements
Heavy-duty or diesel experience required, particularly in fleet or commercial applications
ASE, Ford, Stellantis, or equivalent manufacturer certifications preferred
Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented shop environment
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and first-time quality
Professional, reliable, and committed to producing consistent, high-quality work
