The

Set-Up Technician

is responsible for the installation and removal of molding equipment such as molds, fixtures, and auxiliary equipment. This employee must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision and with a variety of employees, including tool room personnel, process technicians, and maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities: The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned.

Use lifting devices such as fork trucks and cranes to install and remove injection molds.

Assemble and disassemble equipment used in the injection and blow molding processes.

Use diagnostic tools such as a voltage meter for problem solving.

Understand mold and auxiliary equipment operations. Learn new tool operations.

Understand press operations. Learn new press operation methods.

Assist with training apprentices and less experienced employees. Ensure that safe and efficient work methods are used by all set up department members.

Work with a minimum of supervision. Respond to changing priorities.

Comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law.

Complete applicable set-up department forms and documents.

Complete mold pulls and sets on the Mold Change Electronic Board.

Work towards meeting established mold pull and set time standards and make recommendations that will improve/reduce these times.

Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School Diploma or GED preferred. One year of manufacturing experience or technical training desired.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to complete forms explaining required mold repairs.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standard situations.

Ability to use a computer with Windows-based programs. Ability to enter data accurately in an established data base.

This is a physically active position in a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs or fixed ladders, stoop, kneel, crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This employee must be able to communicate effectively with others and use active listening skills. Vision ability requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. This is a full-time position performed during a normal workday, five days a week. However, due to variations in production schedules, this employee may be asked to work additional hours to meet additional demands.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a manufacturing facility. This will have seasonal variations in temperature and humidity. Noise level is typical for an injection molding manufacturing facility. Safety equipment will be worn regularly.

The Anticipated Pay Range for This Position:

$22.00-$25.00 hourly
