Ad Creative & Performance Strategist at Mood
Overview Mood is a premier online source for legal cannabis products. We are a fast‑growing D2C e‑commerce brand dedicated to delivering high‑quality, legal THC products directly to customers' doorsteps. This role focuses on data‑driven creative strategy and storytelling, analyzing creative performance, generating insights, and collaborating with the creative team to elevate our paid advertising.
Responsibilities
Performance Analysis & Insight Generation: Analyze creative performance metrics (Stop Rate/Hook Rate, Hold Rate, CTR, CPA, ROAS) to determine what is working and why.
Generate lasting insights by understanding the human psychology behind effective ad elements and applying them across creative concepts.
Develop novel measurement approaches to advance creative science.
Strategy & Briefing: Translate raw performance data into actionable creative briefs for copywriters and designers.
Lead A/B testing roadmaps to iterate winning concepts and spark new concept development.
Conduct competitor analysis and monitor D2C trends to keep Mood ahead of the curve.
Creative Pipeline Management: Own the end‑to‑end creative production process for paid ads—from ideation and briefing to production and delivery.
Act as the primary liaison between Media Buying and the internal/external creative teams.
Manage project workflows to ensure deadlines and volume requirements are met.
Lead weekly creative review meetings, providing data‑driven feedback to designers.
Innovate new creative workflows leveraging AI tooling.
Coordinate with external agencies, UGC creators, and partners to source compliant content.
Ensure all external creative adheres to brand guidelines and advertising compliance standards for the cannabis industry.
Requirements
6+ years of experience in Creative Strategy, Ad Operations, or Performance Marketing within a D2C e‑commerce environment.
Expertise in Paid Social (Meta, TikTok, YouTube Shorts) and understanding of format differences.
Data literacy: Comfortable interpreting how creative changes impact CPM, CTR, Hook Rate, and ROAS.
Proven project management skills using tools such as Asana, Trello, or ClickUp for high‑volume workflows.
Excellent communication—able to translate “Excel” for marketers and “Art” for designers.
Bonus: Experience with Cannabis, CBD, or regulated brands and knowledge of social advertising compliance.
Bonus: Basic video editing or design skills for quick iterations or storyboards.
Bonus: Direct‑response ad copy or UGC scriptwriting experience.
