Saturday Membership Experience Specialist L2 - Ward YMCA (Administrative) Young Mens Christian Association of Central Ohio

The Manager on Duty (MOD) serves as the on-site leader during assigned opening, closing, or weekend shifts, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and positive experience for all members and staff. This role combines hands‑on operational management with a deep commitment to the YMCAs mission of nurturing the potential of every person, promoting healthy living, and fostering community connections. The MOD is responsible for ensuring the facility is ready for operation or properly secured at the end of the day, addressing member needs with care, supporting staff in delivering quality service, and maintaining a culture of safety, belonging, and excellence throughout the branch.

Shift availability – Saturday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Think, communicate and behave as a cause‑driven leader and role model for staff and members in desired staff behaviors and healthy living practices.

Scan membership cards of all entering the building; make members feel welcome by learning and using their names when they enter and exit; grant access based on computer system scan results; convey information about membership related to payments or renewals to members upon entry.

Maintain accurate records of transactions and shift activity: completing cash, check and credit sales accurately using computer system, providing change and receipts, and balancing a cash drawer.

Handle enrollment opportunities in the form of walk‑ins, as well as website‑generated requests for membership.

Ensure new members receive all relevant program and membership information and are connected to programs and services that will assist them in being more engaged in the Y, including introduction to key staff, introduction to members, and enrollment in member orientation programs.

Help members to connect with one another to form friendships.

Provide information about the Y (including membership, program, facility, services, financial assistance, etc.) to callers and members.

Ensure the Welcome Desk is clean, orderly, welcoming, and adequately stocked to meet members’ needs.

Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.

Collaborate with the Executive Director to support MOD coverage at the branch.
