The Daily Wire is seeking an experienced Investigations Editor to lead and expand our investigative journalism efforts. Reporting to the Managing Editor, this role oversees the development, reporting, editing, and publication of high-impact long‑form and enterprise investigations. The Investigations Editor sets investigative priorities, manages complex and sensitive reporting, and ensures every story meets the highest standards of factual accuracy, legal defensibility, narrative clarity, and editorial rigor. Serving as both a senior editor and strategic leader, this role mentors reporters, collaborates closely with legal counsel, and helps shape an investigative agenda that advances The Daily Wire’s mission and strengthens public trust.
Primary Responsibilities
Set and lead the investigative agenda in alignment with organizational mission and editorial priorities, identifying high‑impact stories and long‑term investigative themes.
Evaluate tips, leads, and pitches to determine investigative value and allocate reporting resources effectively.
Oversee investigative projects from pitch through publication, guiding story structure, sourcing strategies, and narrative development.
Enforce rigorous investigative reporting standards, including source vetting, verification, documentation, and evidentiary review.
Collaborate closely with legal counsel and senior editorial leadership to assess risk and ensure legal, ethical, and editorial compliance.
Manage and mentor investigative reporters and contributors, providing coaching in investigative techniques and long‑form storytelling.
Coordinate with data, research, video, design, and other teams to support cross‑platform investigative storytelling.
Ensure strict confidentiality, source protection, and secure handling of sensitive information throughout the investigative process.
Experience & Requirements
Background in Journalism, Investigative Reporting, Communications or related field preferred.
Extensive experience in investigative journalism and long‑form reporting.
Strong editorial judgment and risk assessment capabilities.
Proven ability to manage sensitive, high‑stakes stories.
Exceptional editing, fact‑checking, and narrative development skills.
Ability to mentor reporters and manage complex projects under deadline pressure.
