Job Summary / Description The Digital Journalist is responsible for producing daily web content, including written stories and video, and assisting with other digital content when assigned.
Duties / Responsibilities
Develop, research, and pitch original, compelling, and relevant daily local news stories.
Respond immediately to breaking news assignments and adapt quickly to changing editorial priorities.
Operate professional video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment to gather high‑quality visual and sound elements.
Conduct professional, concise, and informative interviews.
Write scripts for news packages, voice‑overs, and teases in a clear, conversational broadcast style, adhering to strict time limits.
Perform non‑linear editing of video and audio elements to create visually engaging and coherent news reports.
Write compelling, Search Engine Optimized (SEO) headlines and summary text for all published video streams and stories to maximize online visibility and traffic.
Verify the accuracy of all facts, names, and information before air.
Adhere strictly to journalistic ethics, libel laws, and station standards and policies.
Qualifications / Requirements
On‑camera presentation and verbal communication skills.
Written communication skills with proficiency in AP Style.
Proficiency with non‑linear video editing software.
Technical proficiency in operating field camera equipment.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet rapid‑fire deadlines under pressure.
