Overview
Under the general direction of the Human Resources Director, a Human Resources Benefits & Compliance Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of employee benefit programs and ensuring organizational compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
Responsibilities Assist with the processing of various actions as required under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a business program from an accredited university, college or business school.
Minimum of one (1) year full-time paid personnel or human resources administration work experience.
Physical Activities Generally sedentary work activities requiring occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.
Environmental Conditions Works in Muskegon County offices; occasional local travel may be required.
Medical Examination & Drug Screening Post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test required before the first day of employment. Offer of employment contingent upon results.
Applicant Review Procedure Any applicant is entitled to a review of any determination or action taken by the County regarding the applicant’s employment application. Inquiries directed to the County Human Resources Department.
Purpose Establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification. List remains effective for three months unless exhausted or extended.
