Position Summary
The Salvation Army Minneapolis Parkview Corps is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.
The Community Center Coordinator organizes coordinates and implements mission-driven recreational programs and special events. The Coordinator is also responsible for facilitating community center usage for internal and external groups.
Wage: $47,000 Annually, 40 hours a week which will include some weekends and evenings

Essential Functions
Develop, implement, facilitate, and market recreational programs and events (e.g., sports leagues, tournaments, summer day camp, The Salvation Army Outdoors program) for the North Minneapolis community. (40%)
Coordinate community center usage with internal and external groups, including scheduling, building/equipment access, and setup/teardown. (20%)
Act as an on-site supervisor in the absence of management, overseeing rental groups and volunteers. (15%)
Oversee rental agreements, membership database, statistics, and track membership/building usage fees. (15%).
Foster positive rapport with youth and their families participating in programming. (5%)
Assist with seasonal events and fundraising activities, including driving agency vehicles. (5%)
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Previous experience in recreational programming is preferred.
Must have current CPR and First Aid certification or be able to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver’s license, and meet MVR qualifications.
Competencies
Ability to lead youth activities successfully and safely.
Effective rapport-building and de‑scalation skills.
High level of honor in dealing with confidential information.
Proficient with PC and Microsoft Office products.
Working Conditions
Perform all physical aspects of the position, including being mobile, bending, reaching, and typing.
Must be able to lift 20 pounds at a time.
Must be able to actively participate in activities.
Environment includes office and gymnasium; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
Complete The Salvation Army Outdoors program within the first year of employment.
Must be able to communicate clearly in English.
Work hours will include evenings and weekends.
Supervisory Responsibilities None.
Travel Requirements Drive throughout the local community using an agency for seasonal events/fundraising. Infrequent out-of-town travel.
