Grand Casino Mille Lacs/Hinckley Procurement Inventory Specialist Department: Procurement

Reports To: Procurement Business Systems Manager

Own the inventory. Set the standards. Keep retail moving—across both properties.

What You’ll Do Inventory + Buying Ownership

Serve as the primary owner of retail inventory across both Mille Lacs and Hinckley properties

Establish, manage, and adjust par levels for retail inventory to support sales volume, seasonality, space constraints, and operational efficiency

Make buying decisions for gift‑shop inventory, operating within approved budgets and vendor frameworks

Analyze inventory, sales, and usage trends to determine appropriate purchasing strategies and replenishment plans

Item Creation & System Integrity

Create, maintain, and govern item records, including vendor assignments, pricing, pack sizes, reorder points, and inventory attributes

Ensure item setup and inventory data are accurate, standardized, and consistently applied across both properties

Monitor item cost changes and assess impact on retail operations

Standardization & Process Leadership

Develop, implement, and standardize inventory and buying practices across both properties to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance

Develop and maintain clear procedures for item setup, ordering, replenishment, and inventory control

Identify process gaps or inefficiencies and implement improvements to support operational goals

Act as the subject‑matter expert for retail inventory systems and buying processes

Cross‑Functional & Vendor Collaboration

Partner with Retail leadership, Receiving, Finance, and Procurement to ensure inventory accuracy and alignment

Communicate directly with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules

Validate invoices and resolve discrepancies in coordination with Accounts Payable and Receiving

Training & Continuous Improvement

Train and support retail staff on inventory practices, par‑level management, and system usage

Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, reduce shrink or overstock, and increase operational efficiency

Support cycle counts, physical inventories, audits, and compliance requirements

Assess inventory‑related risks and take proactive steps to minimize financial exposure, shrink, and operational disruption

What You Bring

High school diploma or GED required; additional education in business, supply chain, or related field preferred

3–5 years of progressive experience in inventory management, buying, or retail operations

Demonstrated experience with independent buying decisions and par‑level management

Strong experience with item creation and inventory system governance

Analytical skills with the ability to interpret inventory and sales data

Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Must be able to secure and maintain a license from the Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA)

Responsible for following all relevant Detailed Gaming Regulations (DGRs)

Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process

Work Requirements And Environment This role operates in a structured professional environment with frequent interaction across departments, properties, and vendors. Work includes computer‑based inventory and purchasing tasks, data analysis, and communication via email and phone. Occasional movement between offices or storage areas may be required to support inventory verification. The schedule is predictable and supports consistent cross‑property collaboration.
