Canyon Creek Behavioral Health (affiliated with Universal Health Services) is a 102-bed acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Central Texas town of Temple, Texas. Canyon Creek features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care and intensive outpatient programs. Position Summary The Intake Coordinator is accountable for coordinating the Assessment and Referral activities at the facility as part of the HIM Medical Records Clerk role.
Job Duties
Telephone screening of all inquiry calls with appropriate referrals for any emergency situations and schedule appointments as indicated.
Document inquiry calls in the system database.
Coordinate with other mental health facilities to obtain clinical referral information and schedule referrals in a timely manner.
Complete admission paperwork in accordance with policy.
Post appointment schedule for the following day and distribute to the receptionist, nurse, and director.
Make follow-up calls to those failing to show for scheduled appointments.
Assist with insurance benefits verification.
Qualifications
High school diploma; preference for some college or equivalent experience in a healthcare related field.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a customer-service field, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer skills and customer service principles.
CPR and CPR training as outlined in New Hire Policy must be completed before providing direct care services.
Ability to communicate over the telephone and in face-to-face situations.
Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively.
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all information.
