Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $57.740 - $74.490 - $83.440

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

What You Will Do Radioactive Field Source Custodian & Lead Technologist is responsible for directing operational activities, supervision of the staff, performing management responsibilities and conducting a physical inventory of radioactive fields sources throughout Grossmont Hospital Campus, supervising and/or performing field source leakage tests, drafting policies and procedures and documentation of compliance with Title 17 or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Radioactive Material License (RAM). The Lead shall provide technical support, expertise and professional judgement as a Technologist. Required Qualifications

Appropriate training and experience as necessary for safe handling of radiation sources as defined in the RAM

AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED

Other Qualification Requirements

(CTNM) Current CT NM licensure

Essential Functions

Ability to demonstrate competencies in procedures

Perform full range of Nuclear Medicine procedures to demonstrate monitoring the tissue and organ functionality and characteristics that localizes the diagnosis and treatment of disease

Complete post processing computer functionality for calculations of higher and lower concentrations of radioactivity, determining abnormal and normal tissues and functions

Complete and present calculations to radiologist for interpretation of images

Archive images in PACS systems for data retrieval

Communication Assigns staff to assist co-workers in completing of their tasks (i.e. Clerical staff and/or Radiology Assistants)

Ensures work related discussions are professional and limited to private areas

Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with all customers

Utilizes active listening practices and acknowledges and accepts customer's feelings and perceptions as valid

Accepts criticism without defensiveness

Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness

When dealing with multiple priorities at the same time, assures customers that they will be attended to as soon as possible

Customer satisfaction surveys are 90% overall

Computer tracking and procedure archive Monitors billing, completion and/or modification of exams

Verifies preliminary billing reports, scheduled and completed exam, and reports

Ensures correct modifiers and charge codes are used

Correct labeling and identification of procedures

Follow up on procedures that remain in S or C Status in IDXRAD

Department performance improvement Support and participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives

Identifies problems and implements appropriate actions to improve departmental operations and/or quality of care

Provides on going educational support to work group with documentation of attendees

Provides written recommendations for cost reduction and department improvements

Ensures cleanliness and adequate stocking in exam and work areas

Human resource management Provide staff with on-going feedback regarding performance

Monitor staff attendance

Address employee performance issues following the SHC Coaching and Counseling Policy and Procedure

Solicit input from radiologist regarding staff performance and provide feedback to staff on an on-going basis

Productivity Monitor work demands and flex staff to maintain 99% productivity

Facilitates efficient patient flow and utilizes resources and supplies appropriately

Independently identifies workflow problems and directs staff to initiate appropriate actions

Demonstrate teamwork by taking initiative to perform non-assigned duties and to assist co-workers

Radiation safety Daily ordering of radionuclides from Radiopharmacy

Monitor packages delivered to the "Hot Lab" and "Storage Areas"

Adhere to strict radiation safety policies and procedures when handling radionuclides which emit spontaneous radiation and pose an occupational risk to higher than background levels of radiation

Correctly identify unit dose per patient and type of isotope

Perform appropriate calibration of doses prior to administration

Documentation isotope administered to patient and calibrated dose in NMIS

Follow all procedures as required in the Radioactive Material's License

Monitor staff, patients and visitors and prevent public exposure to greater than background levels of radiation

Record management Maintain annual leakage testing logs and records per RAM License, Title 17 or NRC

Maintain Radioactive Material License inventory of radioactive sources maintained in the hospital

Responsible for drafting policies and procedures, competencies and training associated with safe use and storage of radioactive sealed sources

Report to Radiation Safety Committee and Radiation Safety Officer

Staffing Post staff schedules 2 weeks prior to work date

Appropriate schedule vacations, holiday, weekends and on-call

Training and education Attends required mandatory in-services and departmental meetings

Attends and actively participates in management meetings

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of application of radioactive materials.

Ability to respond to radioactive emergencies ensures compliance with Title 17, NRC, RAM.

Knowledge and understand of radiological sciences, computer programs and documentation.

Effective verbal and written interpersonal skills.

Ability to courteously accommodate angry or frustrated customers.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to calmly handle multiple telephone or personal contacts daily.

Completion of bachelors degree in scientific or related field, preferred
