The Department of Biology at the University of Nebraska at Kearney is seeking candidates for one tenure‑track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to begin in Fall 2026. The successful applicant will be trained in a physiology/microbiology related discipline (anatomy, physiology, microbiology, cellular biology, or molecular biology) and will be expected to pedagogically address and respond to the learning needs of students from varied academic backgrounds.
Duties include:
Teaching on‑campus undergraduate courses.
Developing and instructing online graduate courses.
Establishing a successful independent research program involving undergraduate students.
Performing service to the department, university, and profession.
The university is committed to undergraduate teaching and research, community engagement, and meaningful faculty‑student interactions.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent in a biological field; teaching experience in courses related to physiology/microbiology; ability to be granted graduate faculty status (evidence of two recent publications in peer reviewed journals within the last 3 years); strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Post‑doctoral experience; experience mentoring undergraduate student research; skill in online instruction; evidence of grant writing.
