MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Valid credentials in compliance with Georgia Board of Education rule(s). American Sign Language certification preferred.

GOAL Provide a hearing program that will allow students who are deaf/hard of hearing to achieve at their maximum potential.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Interpret teachers, classmates and other school personnel’s language and discussion to select deaf/hard of hearing students.

Translate deaf/hard of hearing students’ language to teachers, classmates and other school personnel.

Accompany and assist deaf/hard of hearing students as necessary on field trips, co-curricular activities held during the school day, assemblies, etc.

Substitute when necessary in deaf/hard of hearing instructor’s absence.

Participate, as requested, in staff development activities, committee meetings etc.

Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/ or credential as required for this position.

Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.

Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to assignment.

Review current developments, literature, and technical source information related to job responsibilities.

Ensure adherence to safety procedures.

Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.
