HEALTH AND SAFETY ANALYST at NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia
As a HEALTH AND SAFETY ANALYST you will:
Identify hazardous workplace conditions and conduct sampling of toxic substances and hazardous forces.
Implement hazard controls through protective equipment, revised procedures, and employee training.
Ensure compliance with federal/state occupational safety standards and labor agreements.
Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
Participate in OSHA inspections and post‑citation procedures.
Investigate workplace injuries and fatalities; prepare and submit reports.
Conduct training on safe work procedures.
This is a Full-Time contract opportunity
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor of Science Degree in an Occupational Safety, Physical Science, Life Science, or Engineering field.
Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) preferred.
Previous experience with shipbuilding, construction, or industrial industry.
Previous experience interpreting and enforcing legal standards.
Ability to concisely document findings, interpret and enforce legal standards in maritime and construction industry.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced work environment.
Ability to document events into a brief narrative with understanding of causal relationship.
Ability to maneuver to all parts of a ship environment to include confined spaces wearing personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety glasses, steel toes shoes, hearing protection, fall protection, respirator, etc.
Schedule: 1st Shift 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Payrate Range: Between $31.50/hr and $42.16/hr.
* Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
