Full‑Time/Part‑Time Full‑Time

Description Aquila’s Assistant Fitness Manager (TEMPORARY, FULL‑TIME) assists the Fitness Program Manager in a wide range of fitness, and administrative activities. This individual will assist in coordinating and directing the operations and personnel at a single location so as to ensure efficient fitness operations and customer service to members. The pay rate for this position is $24.04/hour which is $50,000 annually when working the scheduled 40 hours a week. The work week is Monday‑Friday and candidates should be able to work schedules from 6 a.m.–2 p.m., 9 a.m.–5 p.m., and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on alternating days. This is a temporary position from approximately April through June 2026.

Responsibilities

Teach group fitness classes

Conduct personal fitness training sessions with members

Assist in planning and evaluating the Health & Fitness Center’s operations

Assist in preparation of reports and records for management

Assist in evaluation of current procedures, practices, and precedents for accomplishing Health & Fitness Center's activities and functions

Develop relationships with members, clients and key clients to promote goodwill and generate new business

Act as an emergency substitute when employees are absent

Assume interim Health & Fitness Manager duties if Health & Fitness Program Manager is absent or sick

Assist in personnel coaching, stimulate creativity and lead through good example

Implement ACSM programming guidelines, identify high‑risk clients and special populations, conduct fitness assessments, exercise prescription and group exercise classes

Implement & design wellness and fitness programs with Health & Fitness Program Manager; assist in worksite health promotion programs delivery (where applicable), health fairs and internal & external programming promotional activities including seminars, member incentive and retention programs

Supervise fitness floor, educate members concerning safe exercise techniques

Assist members in spotting and equipment usage

Explain and demonstrate all equipment

Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment

Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures

Adhere to client’s policies and procedures

Attend staff meetings

Any other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

B.S. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related health & fitness field

Active NCCA accredited fitness certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT, or AFAA)

Active CPR certification

Minimum 3 years experience in health/fitness field

Minimum 6 months management experience

Must be a U.S. Citizen since this is a federal agency

Skills Required

Excellent technical skills in testing and exercise prescription

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Customer service oriented

Computer literate: Microsoft Products, E‑mail, Internet

Team player

Ability to lead group fitness classes

Acts with a sense of urgency

Punctual, dependable, organized

Ability to motivate others
