Up to $96,500 PER YEAR GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to improve store conditions and profitability while providing growth opportunity and additional leadership to support the Store Director. This person will help ensure the success of their store by mentoring associates to be their best, providing leadership to the store, promoting teamwork and a positive store culture, and recognizing associates and holding them accountable. This person will build sales and manage expenses to increase the profitability of their store. This person will provide exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures

Cross train in all areas of the store especially fresh foods

Assist in overseeing the successful operation of all departments in the store

Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services provided by throughout the store

Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for all departments in the store

Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items

Ensures the store is clean and meets the company standard for appearance

Delivers excellent customer service to all customers

Communicates openly and frequently with department managers, Store Directors, Sales Directors, and the VP of Operations

Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained

Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team

Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc.

Promptly addresses and resolves associates’ concerns and/or grievances

Assists in writing the management schedule to ensure coverage and meet labor goals

Interacts with customers and assists with special requests, complaints, etc.

Walks the store and looks for opportunities to improve store conditions, sales, and safety

Conducts interviews and hires store associates

Reviews store numbers; sales, labor, shrink, projections, etc.

Reviews Foodie Club Card spreadsheets to monitor coupons added and points added

Authorizes store invoices to be paid

Oversees schedules to ensure that associates are treated fairly, and that coverage and sales needs are met

Performs periodic department audits for the pharmacy, fresh foods, and scanning

May attend and conduct meetings both in-store and off-site; Manager’s Meeting, P & L meetings, projection meetings, personal growth, etc.

Assists with quarterly inventory of all store products

Accepts role as Safety Committee Chair, which is responsible for monthly safety meetings, monthly safety audits, review of accident follow up, investigations and tracking reports

Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner

Sets a professional and positive example to others

Conducts interviews and hires store associates

Assists as needed to ensure the success of the store as a whole

MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities: A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's or master's degree in technical sales, communication, business, or related field highly preferred; five years of grocery or other retail experience with managerial/leadership preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Basic math skills

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

Understanding of product rotation

Should have a passion for customer service

Must obtain Harmons’ Forklift Certification

Must have the ability to advocate, analyze, and understand technology to be effective personally and have an impact on business performance

Knowledge of all aspects of store operations; equipment, tools, food preparation, etc.

Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Ability to interpret policies and procedures

Excellent organization and planning skills

Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills to communicate with and manage diverse groups of people effectively and efficiently

Ability to handle conflict appropriately and professionally

Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team

Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized analytical skills and techniques

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to cold, hot, slippery, and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds from location to location.
