CDOC Licensed HVAC Supervisor CSLTS I (Sterling)
Position: CDOC Licensed HVAC Supervisor CSLTS I at the Sterling Correctional Facility. Responsibilities
Ensure safety and security of the facility, staff, and inmates during HVAC operations. Conduct work site searches, strip searches, and shakedowns; enforce security procedures. Train and supervise inmate work crew, providing instruction on HVAC tasks, PPE, and safety practices. Operate and maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment; perform design, installation, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. Oversee Direct Digital Control (DDC) and microprocessor-based HVAC systems. Coordinate and integrate with other trades (carpentry, plumbing, painting, etc.). Document work progress, quality, and safety compliance. Respond to emergencies (fights, fires, escapes) per agency policy. Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years of experience in light building construction or HVAC maintenance. At least one (1) year of installation, repair, or maintenance of HVAC/refrigeration systems. EPA 608 Certification (Type I, II, III, or Universal) - copy required. High school diploma or GED. Legal eligibility to work in the United States. Valid driver’s license (not required for all tasks). Required Competencies
Strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability. Sound judgment and decision-making skills. Proficiency with HVAC systems, refrigerants, DDC, electrical controls, pneumatic controls, actuated dampers. Ability to read blueprints and plan projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Leadership: motivate and supervise inmate crew. Work safely in confined spaces, high areas, and inclement weather. Physical ability to lift, climb, restrain, and perform defensive tactics. Strong self-control, emotional stability, and resilience under pressure. Preferred Qualification
Experience in other light construction trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, grounds maintenance). Conditions of Employment
Must be 21 years of age or older. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. No felony convictions; meet CDOC criminal history requirements. Must successfully complete the six-week CDOC Basic Training. Background investigation required; TB screening upon hire. Drug test required; positive results will disqualify the applicant.
