What You Will Be Doing

Direct and administer all district test laboratory activities.

Manage Test Lab staff—approve Kronos & EIMS time, conduct employee evaluations, approve training, etc.

Attend project meetings (DET, staff, progress, pre‑construction) to stay updated on testing.

Meet with consultants, contractors, and government officials to explain programs and projects.

Review, evaluate, and create reports with recommendations to the DCE regarding unapproved materials.

Approve purchasing of equipment and budget expenditures for the Test Lab.

Answer questions and provide information to OMM concerning concrete mixes and projects.

Support ODOT project personnel, ready‑mix suppliers, contractors, and LPAs on material requirements.

Provide technical support for QC/QA concrete pours, review and approve test reports.

Review test reports sent in by project personnel and material producers.

Ensure proper material documentation and acceptance in AWP.

Review materials for acceptance in the project finalization process and create/sign material certification.

Act as District Champion and provide training for the AWP program regarding material documentation.

Qualifications & Requirements Position designated Career Professional per Section 5501.20.

Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio.

Minimum of 2 years experience as a group or project leader, or supervisor, providing work direction & training to employees engaged in engineering projects. (Alternatively 12 months experience as a Transportation Engineer 3, with experience traveling to inspect project sites.)

Must possess a valid driver’s license if operating a state vehicle to inspect project sites.

All candidates applying for employment opportunities must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship for an employment visa is not currently available for positions with the Ohio Department of Transportation. Valid driver’s license required to operate state vehicle.
