Job Description The Patient Access Representative is responsible for registration, scheduling, collections, and authorizations, functioning as both a Patient Financial Counselor (PFC) and a receptionist for the clinic. The role supports patient care and financial processes, ensuring timely authorizations and positive relationships with patients, clinic staff, and the access team.
Essential Functions
Receive patients, collect co‑pay and deductible payments, and verify authorizations at the time of service
Manage incoming calls and schedule appointments, including follow‑ups, diagnostics, treatments, and external physician referrals, ensuring valid authorizations before services
Pre‑register and register patients by verifying demographics and insurance; complete required forms to maintain compliance
Advise patients on financial programs and direct them to the financial navigator or other appropriate resources
Perform other duties as assigned by the Patient Access Manager
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a medical office setting
Strong knowledge of insurance benefits, authorization processes, and contracting
Ability to work independently with strong organizational and communication skills to meet established goals and deadlines
