The
Peer Support Specialist
provides a variety of targeted services with residential patients, all within the scope of his or her job. These services range from general support to developing Wellness Recovery Action Plans. The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for providing the highest possible care to every client served. This role can be complex as support staff must navigate between varying interests. For an example, while client advocacy and rapport must be priorities, consideration must be given to the treatment implications of interventions prescribed by clinical staff. The Peer Support Specialist works with various teams, including treatment teams and client recovery support staff and assists the Residential Program Manager in providing the highest care to all program participants. The overall goals of this position are to: (a) provide high‑quality care for clients, (b) provide a high level of customer service for funders, clients, and other stakeholders, (c) provide support for the clinical and client advocate staff, and (d) work to increase client retention in the residential setting.

Pay range:
$44,044.08 per year
Hours:
Flexible swing hours with weekend shifts.
Our full‑time benefits include:

Duties to include but not limited to:
Assists the program manager in managing the milieu during day and evening hours (may include weekends), including behavior management, client de‑escalation, on‑call support, and assistance in emergency medical situations.
Provides support to clinical staff, familiar with the core modalities (REBT, MRT, and MI) that are used in FSH programming.
Provides clients with opportunities to engage in community support groups, sober recreation leagues and community service hours and provides client supervision, including coaching sober sports.
Communicates treatment needs, as possibly identified during regular wellness recovery planning sessions, to the clinical and case management teams.
Assists in monitoring each client's program adherence, drug‑test results, and group attendance and addresses problems as they arise.
Utilizes other software programs as needed (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
Maintains organizational expectations for clinical productivity.
Attends all relevant employee training classes and clinical staff meetings.
Collaborates and consults with supervisors, treatment‑team members, community partners, and other relevant parties concerning clinical issues.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or Associate’s Degree and an active license in the State of Utah as a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
Education in the Utah State Peer Support Specialist.
Experience in both substance abuse and mental health treatment field is preferred.
